The Jackson State football community is mourning the tragic loss of former defensive back Levi Wyatt, who was killed in a car crash on Saturday. He was 23 years old. Family members confirmed Wyatt’s passing through social media.
A native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Wyatt built an impressive football career that took him from the junior college ranks to the FCS level before finishing his collegiate career at Jackson State.
Before joining the Tigers, Wyatt played at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and later transferred to McNeese State, where he earned All-Southland Conference recognition. He arrived at Jackson State for the 2025 season and immediately made an impact in the secondary.
During his lone season with the Tigers, Wyatt appeared in 12 games, recording 33 tackles, two tackles for loss, eight pass breakups, and one forced fumble, helping anchor Jackson State’s defense.
Authorities have not yet released details surrounding the crash, and the incident remains under investigation.
Wyatt’s death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from former teammates, coaches, and fans, who have remembered him as both a talented athlete and a respected teammate.
