Nneka Ogwumike is calling it a career after the 2026 WNBA season.
After 15 seasons in the WNBA, the longtime superstar has announced that this will be her final season, bringing one of the most accomplished careers in league history toward its conclusion.
“I feel very fulfilled with the 15 years that I’ve been able to play and compete at such a high level and I am proud to say that I am retiring from the WNBA.”
Ogwumike entered the WNBA as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 WNBA Draft and immediately made her presence felt, winning Rookie of the Year and earning a spot on the WNBA All-Rookie Team.
Four years later, she reached the pinnacle of the sport.
In 2016, Ogwumike helped lead the Los Angeles Sparks to a WNBA championship and earned WNBA Finals MVP honors. She also captured the 2016 WNBA MVP award, cementing herself among the league’s elite.
