How Jackson State Took Control

Jackson State opened the scoring when Caron Tyler rushed for an eight-yard touchdown with 11:50 remaining in the first quarter.

Florida A&M answered with a methodical 11-play, 69-yard drive, capped by a five-yard touchdown run from quarterback Armond Parker. The teams finished the opening quarter tied at 7–7.

The Rattlers moved ahead in the second quarter when Gabriel Caison converted a 23-yard field goal. Jackson State responded with a 31-yard field goal by Andrew Ivaniciuc, tying the game at 10–10.

The Tigers then gained two additional points on a safety with 33 seconds remaining before halftime, taking a 12–10 advantage into the break.

Florida A&M seized the momentum early in the third quarter. Hailey broke through the Jackson State defense for an 81-yard touchdown run, putting the Rattlers ahead 17–12 with 12:46 left in the period.

That lead, however, would not hold.

With 12:21 remaining in the fourth quarter, Lockhart connected with Jones on a 25-yard touchdown pass. Lockhart added the two-point conversion on a rushing attempt, pushing Jackson State in front 20–17.

The Tigers struck again less than three minutes later. Blount scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown with 9:49 remaining, and Ivaniciuc’s extra point extended the advantage to 27–17.

Jackson State’s defense protected the 10-point lead the rest of the way, completing the comeback.

Jamal Hailey Delivers an Explosive Performance

Despite the loss, Florida A&M running back Jamal Hailey delivered one of the game’s biggest highlights.

Hailey finished with 111 rushing yards and one touchdown on 12 carries, averaging 9.3 yards per attempt. His 81-yard touchdown run gave the Rattlers their only lead of the second half.

Quarterback Armond Parker added 21 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground but struggled through the air. Parker completed 11 of 27 passes for 163 yards and threw three interceptions.

Lawrence Wright IV led Florida A&M’s receiving corps with two catches for 58 yards, while Jamar Taylor recorded four receptions for 44 yards.

The Rattlers finished with 327 total yards but committed three interceptions and lost two fumbles, costly mistakes against a Jackson State team that capitalized late.

Jackson State Finds Its Fourth-Quarter Spark

Jackson State’s offense finished with 368 total yards, including 228 rushing yards on 49 attempts.

Lockhart completed 13 of 24 passes for 98 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also contributed 53 rushing yards and converted the crucial two-point attempt following the go-ahead touchdown.

Blount led the Tigers’ backfield with 63 rushing yards on 11 carries and a touchdown. Li’Darious Pryor added 80 yards on 20 attempts.

Jones provided the decisive receiving contribution, catching three passes for 36 yards and the 25-yard touchdown that put Jackson State ahead for good.

The Tigers’ ability to run the football and finish drives in the fourth quarter proved decisive after Florida A&M controlled the scoreboard for much of the second half.
