A new era of Golden Rams football officially took another step forward as head coach David Bowser and his staff announced the program’s 2026 signing class. The class features 34 student-athletes who will join the roster ahead of the upcoming season, marking Bowser’s first full recruiting cycle since taking the helm.

The signing class showcases a strong regional foundation and a deliberate focus on recruiting impact talent close to home. Of the 34 total signees, 25 come from South Georgia, highlighting the program’s continued emphasis on securing top prospects within its primary footprint. The class features 28 players from the state of Georgia overall, complemented by additions from Florida (3) and North Carolina (3), reflecting a balanced blend of local strength and strategic out-of-state reach. Notably, 10 signees hail from Albany, reinforcing the staff’s commitment to cultivating relationships within the community and retaining elite local talent.

“Our primary goal is to build on the success of the 2025 season by focusing on recruitment in South Georgia,” said Bowser. “This region is home to great football talent, and our efforts will help elevate the brand of Albany State University both statewide and nationally.”

Positionally, the class is anchored by 20 defensive standouts and 11 offensive additions, along with two versatile athletes and one specialist, creating a well-rounded group designed to address key needs on both sides of the ball.

Coach Bowser, who was introduced as the 14th head football coach in Albany State history in January 2026, brings more than two decades of collegiate coaching and leadership experience to the program. His vision of building a championship-caliber roster committed to academic success and athletic development is already taking shape with this impressive class.

“We strategically continue to recruit young men for the 2026 class when we host our Unsigned camp on March 21st,” said Bowser. “We will be looking for eight to ten more student-athletes who be added to a class that already is academically and athletically talented.”

Bowser and his staff focused on addressing key positional needs while adding depth, speed, and versatility throughout the roster. The class includes a balanced mix of offensive and defensive additions, along with several dynamic playmakers expected to contribute early. The Golden Rams will welcome the newest members of the program to campus later this year as preparations for the 2026 season continue.
