The Albany State Golden Rams defeated the Miles College Golden Bears on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at the Albany Municipal Coliseum. With the win, the Golden Rams improved to (5-4) and (5-2) in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association while the Miles College Golden Bears fell to (6-3) overall and (5-2) in the conference.
First Quarter
At the 8:00 mark in the first quarter, the Golden Rams Eli Mashburn connected on a 35 yard field to give the Golden Rams a (3-0). The field goal capped a 10 play drive that covered 70 yards in 3:40 minutes.
The Golden Rams took a (10-0) lead after Frederick Gaines scored on a 6 yard run. Gaines’ touchdown capped a drive that covered 29 yards on 3 plays.
The Golden Bears cut the lead to (10-7) after J Riley scored on a 20 yard run. The drive covered 40 yards on 2 plays.
Second Quarter
The Golden Rams extended their lead to (17-7) after Ralph Lovett caught a 47 yard touchdown pass from Dionte Bonneau. The drive covered 75 yards on 3 plays.
At the 8:56 mark, Dionte Bonneauconnected with Ralph Lovett again for a 61 yard touchdown to extend the Golden Rams a (24-7) lead. The drive covered 70 yards on 2 plays.
The Golden Rams Dionte Bonneau scored on a 1 yard run to extend the Golden Rams lead to (31-7). The drive covered 45 yards on 9 plays.
Third Quarter
Aljhanod Thomas scored on a 75 yard touchdown run to give the Golden Rams a (38-7) lead.
Dionte Bonneau connected with Ralph Lovett on an 18 yard touchdown pass to extend the Golden Rams lead to (45-7). It was the duo’s 3rd touchdown connection in the game.
Fourth Quarter
Eli Mashburn connected on a 25 yard field goal to extend the Golden Rams lead to (48-7).
Statistics
Offensively, the Golden Rams Dionte Bonneau connected on 15/29 passes for 262 yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. Bonneau also led the Golden Rams in rushing with 89 yards and 1 touchdown. Ralph Lovett finished with 5 catches for 154 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Defensively, Rosendo Louis led the Golden Rams with 10 tackles. Derrick Draytonfinished with 8 tackles and 1 sack. Daytin Baker and D’Avary Weeks finished with an interception for the Golden Rams.
Kam Ivory finished 14/32 for 165 yards and 2 interceptions for the Golden Bears. Jamari Riley gained 57 yards on the ground to lead the Golden Bears. Geordon Pollard led the Golden Bears in receiving with 4 receptions for 50 yards.
JarDarrius McNealey led the Golden Bears with 6 tackles (2 for a loss) and 1 sack. Justin Jackson caught the Golden Bears lone interception.
