Following a stellar senior season that resulted in being name SIAC Player of the Year, Allen women’s basketball guard Taliah Wesley has been selected to participate in the inaugural HBCU Women’s Basketball All-Star Game on April 6, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas.
“Taliah Welsey is a big-time player,” said HBCU All Stars LLC CEO Travis L. Williams. “She’s one of the top players, and we are truly thankful to have her on the team. Her work ethic speaks for itself. We’re truly excited about her.”
The senior guard averaged 17.8 points per game during the regular season to lead the SIAC. While starting all 26 games for Allen, Wesley also shot 44% from the field, which ranked second in the league, and 85.6% from the free-throw line, which ranked first in the SIAC. Wesley also ranked among the SIAC’s best in rebounding with the third highest average of 8.2 rebounds per game. Among her 213 rebounds this season, 40% of them came on the offensive glass with an average of 3.3 offensive rebounds per game. On the defensive end, Wesley led the SIAC with 2.8 steals per game.
“No one fits the criteria of being named an All-Star more than Taliah,” said Allen head coach Olivia Gaines. “To see her recognized on a national stage alongside the best players from both Division I and Division II HBCUs across the country is right where she belongs.”
The HBCU Women’s Basketball All-Star Game will be held inside Freeman Coliseum following the conclusion of the 4th annual HBCU Men’s Basketball All-Star Game which begins at 1:00 p.m. eastern. For more information, visit HBCUAllStarGame.com.
