SWAC Receiving Leaders Through Week 1: Jackson State’s Nate Rembert Leads the Way

The 2026 SWAC football season is officially underway, and several wide receivers wasted no time making their presence felt.

After the first week of action, Jackson State has two players sitting atop the conference receiving leaderboard, while Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Southern, Grambling State, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern and Alabama A&M are also represented among the SWAC’s top performers.

Jackson State’s Nate Rembert currently owns the conference’s top receiving mark after recording seven receptions for 188 yards through two games.

His teammate, Jabari Janes, isn’t far behind.

Jackson State’s Nate Rembert Leads SWAC

Rembert has emerged as the SWAC’s early receiving leader, totaling:

  • 7 receptions
  • 188 receiving yards
  • 2 games

His 188 yards give him a 15-yard advantage over teammate Jabari Janes.

Janes has also caught seven passes, but has accumulated 173 yards through two games.

The Jackson State duo gives the Tigers two of the conference’s top two receivers after Week 1.

Demetric Whitlock Makes Early Impact for UAPB

Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Demetric Whitlock ranks third in the conference.

Whitlock has hauled in:

  • 6 receptions
  • 166 yards
  • 2 games

His 166 yards put him just seven yards behind Janes and 22 yards behind the conference leader.

Southern’s Daejawn Smith Among SWAC’s Best

Southern receiver Daejawn Smith currently ranks fourth.

Smith has been a reliable target early in the season, catching eight passes for 148 yards through two games.

His eight receptions are tied for the second-most among the players listed in the top 10.

Grambling State Places Two in Top 10

Grambling State has two receivers inside the conference’s top 10.

Jordan Bride ranks fifth with:

  • 10 receptions
  • 142 yards

Bride’s 10 catches are the second-most among the top 10 receivers.

Meanwhile, Tyson George ranks seventh after recording an impressive 12 receptions for 138 yards.

George leads all players on the list in receptions.

Prairie View A&M Also Has Two Top-10 Receivers

Prairie View A&M joins Jackson State and Grambling State with multiple players represented.

Rodny Ojo ranks sixth with eight receptions for 142 yards, matching Bride’s receiving yardage.

Damien McDaniel rounds out the top 10 with eight catches for 94 yards.
