An intitial look at the tumbled leather “DMP” Air Jordan 11

The news of the long-awaited return of the “DMP” Air Jordan was met with great fanfare. Since its original 2006 release alongside the Air Jordan 6 as part of the greatest sneaker duo Jordan Brand has ever birthed, the Defining Moments Pack, nearly every other mid collared Air Jordan 11 of note has enjoyed at least two retail runs.

News emerged back in February that the 2023 incarnation of the “DMP” 11 would not feature the ballistic mesh upper of its 2006 forbear but rather would implement leather. Initial images have now come to light and not only are they sporting a leather upper but, specifically tumbled leather. To put it succinctly, they look odd and it appears the golden Jumpman is embroidered instead of the metallic version that was fixed to the ankle collar. The patent rans appears to be of the higher cut variety.

While it certainly within the realm of possibility, the depicted shoe could be the product of an early calibration run, meaning its possible the final retail version could look slighly different. If that turns out not to be the case, it does somewhat put a damper on the anticipation for this sneaker, as it is not reception of that storied sneaker from 2006, but rather an unnecessary and unsolicited reimagining of yet another classic model.

This Air Jordan 11 is scheduled to release December 9 at nike.com and select retail venues; they will carry a 225 USD sticker price.
