Veteran center Andre Drummond is headed to New York.
According to ESPN, Drummond has agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the New York Knicks, giving the reigning NBA champions an experienced presence in the frontcourt.
The move comes after New York lost Mitchell Robinson in free agency, creating a need for a dependable backup center. Drummond, a two-time NBA All-Star and one of the league’s premier rebounders throughout his career, fills that void with size, toughness, and veteran experience.
Last season with the Philadelphia 76ers, the 32-year-old averaged 6.4 points and 8.4 rebounds in 19.5 minutes per game while continuing to provide elite rebounding off the bench. His ability to dominate the glass and protect the paint should make him a valuable addition behind the Knicks’ starting frontcourt. Job
While Drummond is no longer in his All-Star prime, he remains one of the NBA’s most productive reserve big men. His rebounding, physicality, and championship experience give New York another reliable rotation piece as the franchise looks to defend its NBA title in the 2026-27 season.
The signing also provides the Knicks with financial flexibility, as Drummond joins the team on a short-term, team-friendly deal that strengthens their depth without limiting future roster moves.
