Bethune women’s hoops comes up short versus Florida, 82-73

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Chanel Wilson scored 24 points in Bethune-Cookman’s 82-73 loss at Florida Friday evening.

The Wildcats (0-3) led three times in the third quarter, the last on a D’Shantae Edwards free throw  that made it 44-43 with 5:39 remaining.

A Wilson lay-up gave B-CU, which trailed 20-9 after the first quarter, its first lead with 7:12 remaining at 38-37. Edwards made it 40-39 a minute later.

Florida (3-1) regained the lead, but never led by more than ten points until the game’s final minute.

Wilson was 5-10 from three-point range.

Edwards finished with 14 points on 6-10 shooting.

O’Mariyah Tucker had nine points and a team-high six rebounds.

Nina Rickards led Florida with 23 points.

B-CU hosts Georgia Southern Tuesday.
