The Chicago Bulls could be closing in on their next head coach.
According to reports, Chicago may have a new coach in place as early as Monday, bringing an end to a search that could shape the franchise’s future for years to come. With the NBA Draft and free agency quickly approaching, the Bulls appear eager to establish leadership before entering a pivotal offseason.
RealGM reports that the quartet of finalist for the position are Bulls assistant coach Wes Unseld Jr, Trail Blazers interim head coach Tiago Splitter, Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori and Atlanta Hawks assistant coach Ryan Schmidt.
The new coach will inherit a team in transition. Emerging talents such as Josh Giddey, Coby White, and Matas Buzelis have provided reasons for optimism, but questions remain about the roster’s ceiling and the direction the organization plans to take moving forward.
Chicago’s next hire will be tasked with developing the team’s young core while helping the franchise return to playoff relevance in a now quite competitive Eastern Conference. The decision also comes at a time when several teams around the league have already filled coaching vacancies, increasing the urgency for the Bulls to make their choice.
If a hire is finalized by Monday, the new coach will immediately become one of the most important figures in shaping Chicago’s offseason strategy and long-term vision.
