In July we reported of the pending return of the Melo 5.5 and now there is confirmation of their second retail run.
The Jordan Melo 5.5 “Black/University Blue” is officially set to return on April 30, 2027, bringing back one of the most recognizable basketball sneakers from Melo’s early NBA years.
The returning pair carries the official Black/Taxi/University Blue/Metallic Silver colorway and JA9035-001 style code.
The release was initially reported by KicksFinder, with the latest release information confirming the highly anticipated retro.
The Melo 5.5 originally debuted in 2005 during Anthony’s early years with the Denver Nuggets. The model is particularly memorable for its hybrid design, drawing inspiration from the Air Jordan 5 and Air Jordan 6.
The OG-inspired makeup features a predominantly black upper, University Blue accents and Taxi/gold detailing — a color scheme that fits perfectly with Anthony’s Denver era.
This return will also mark the first retro release of the Melo 5.5, making it a major comeback for collectors who remember Jordan Brand’s early signature-athlete era.

More than two decades after its original run, Melo’s second signature Jordan is finally getting another shot.
And for sneakerheads who grew up watching Carmelo Anthony dominate in Denver, this is one retro that should hit differently.
