UAPB advances to SWAC Title game with victory over Southern

One half of the matchup of the 2018 Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship has been set. Arkansas-Pine Bluff advanced by defeating Southern 71-65 earlier this evening. UAPB enjoyed a 19-11 lead before Southern blitzed them with a 19-4 run to put the Jaguars up 30-23. Southern would halve their advantage shaved to three,30-27, right before the break when Charles Jackson was fouled on a three-point attempt and cashed in all three free throws. Prairie View defeats Alcorn in SWAC Basketball Quarterfinals

The second seeded Prarie View A&M Panthers dispatched the seventh seed Alcorn State 87-71 last night in the opening round of the SWAC Men’s Basketball Tournament. Prarie View’s J.D. Wallace and Dennis Jones recorded double-doubles, with Wallace scoring 16 points and dishing out 11 assists and Jones providing 16 points and distributing 14 assists. Jimmy Butler having surgery on torn meniscus

In the third quarter of the Minnesota Timberwolves ‘ game against the Houston Rockets, Jimmy Butler went down with an apparent non-contact knee injury. Initially there was speculation and worry that Butler tore his Achilles’ tendon or even his ACL, however a subsequent MRI revealed that a torn Meniscus was what befell him. Earlier today the Alabama State athletic department announced the university has entered into a five-year agreement with Adidas in which the company will be the official provider of footwear, apparel and accessories of the Hornets through the 2022-23 season.
