MONTGOMERY, Ala. –Myles Crawley passed for 270 yards and two touchdowns on the way to a 24-3 victory over the Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley on Saturday (Oct. 15) at ASU Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Brandon Gaddy blocked Orlando Fernand’s FG attempt and it was returned 77 yards by Keenan Isaac to set up ASU’s offense at the 19-yard line.
  • Myles Crawley found Dylan Creech across the middle to put ASU on the board with four minutes left in quarter one. 
  • Orlando Fernand cut MVSU’s deficit to four points with a 25-yard field goal at the top of the second quarter.
  • Ja’Won Howell capped off a seven-play, 45-yard drive with a two-yard rushing touchdown to extend the Hornet’s advantage to 14-3.
  • Freshman kicker Jayden John cashed in on his first field goal attempt of the season on a 46-yarder to send Alabama State into the intermission with a 17-3 advantage. 
  • Crawley tossed his second touchdown of the day to Jeremiah Hixon on a 36-yard strike to balloon ASU’s lead to 24-3 with seven minutes left to play in the fourth quarter. 
  • Jamari Jones delivered a 62-yard strike to Jacory Rankin but the Delta Devils failed to convert the extra point.

OFFENSIVE NOTABLES

  • Kisean Johnson finished the 1st half with four receptions and 91 yards.
  • The Hornets passed for 270 yards, including two touchdowns.
  • Myles Crawley went 16/26 for a season-high 270 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions
  • Jeremiah Hixon recorded 5 receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown      
  • Johnson finished the game with 5 receptions and 116 yards.

DEFENSIVE NOTABLES

  • The Delta Devils were 0-11 on 3rd downs
  • Colton Adams led the team in total tackles with 11 and two sacks.
  • The Hornet defense recorded 4 quarterback hurries
  • Alabama State held the Delta Devils to 212 total offensive yards, the lowest allowed offense of the season.

SPECIAL TEAMS NOTABLES

  • Jayden John cashed in on his first field goal attempt of the season with a 46-yarder.
  • Aubrey Grace punted twice for 64 yards. 
  • Hixon and Robert McMinn recorded two kickoff returns. Hixon returned it for 24-yards while McMinn returned it for 43 yards.

  • 24 points marks the highest-scoring game of the season for the Hornets.
  • Alabama State is 10-1 against the Delta Devils in their last 11 meetings. 
  • ASU gets their revenge after losing to MVSU last season, 44-31.
