Davius Richard agrees to terms with UFL’s Houston Roughnecks


Former North Carolina Central quarterback Davius Richard has taken the first step in his professional career, agreeing to terms on a deal with the Houston Roughnecks, according to Kyle T. Mosley of HBCU Legends. 

Richard seemed to be on the path to the NFL but that was derailed when he suffered a dislocated right ankle in the HBCU Legacy Bowl. 

Richard, a back-to-back MEAC Player of the Year, completed a collegiate career in

which he threw for 8,991 yards and 73. touchdowns, while adding another 2026 yards and 44 touchdowns on the ground. In 2022, Richard led the Eagles to a win in the Celebration Bowl as they defeated Jackson State 41-34 in an instant classic overtime thriller. Richard completed 15 of his 20 passes for 175 yards while rushing for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns on 22 attempts as he was named Offensive MVP of the game.
