Thursday the NBA announced their February 2022 Players of the Month. For the Eastern Conference it was the Bulls’ DeMar DeRozan, while for the Western Conference, Luka Doncic took the honors.
Eastern Conference- DeMar DeRozan, Chicago Bulls
Tabbed by some geniuses in the sports media as the worst free agent signing of the offseason, DeRozan continues to expose the folly of that sentiment with his play this season. Helping the Bulls ascent to the top of the Eastern Conference, DeRozan was on a tear this month, helping the Bulls to an 8-5 record in February , posting ridiculous stat line of 34.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. In the course of this prodigioius offensive output, he eclipsed a a mark set by the late, great Wilt Chamberlain, when he had a seven game stretch , putting up 38,36, 35, 38, 40, 38, and 37 points, all done so on at least 50% FG,
Western Conference- Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks
Though he rolled in to camp a bit pudgy, he seems to have rounded into shape, as so has the Dallas Mavericks. Doncic led the Mavericks to a 7-3 month and helped them push their way up the Western Conference leaderboard to the fifth spot they currently occupy. Doncic was spectacular, averaging 34.7 points, 10.3 rebounds and 8.8 assists per contest.
