Grambling head basketball coach Donte’ Jackson signed an extension that will keep him as the Tigers coach through 2029.
“Coach Jackson is without a doubt one of the best basketball coaches in the country and we are blessed that he’s the leader of our men’s basketball program,” said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Trayvean. Scott. “He has taken our program to heights that haven’t been seen for decades and we are confident that he will continue to be successful and mold our student-athletes into men who represent our institution the right way.”
Grambling is coming off a season in which the Tigers claim their first-ever SWAC Tournament crown and make their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament, where they defeated Montana State in the First Four, aka the play-n game, before facing no.1 Purdue in the first round.
Since he arrived in 2017, Coach Jackson has led Grambling to 3 regular season SWAC titles, ( 2018, 2023, and 2024) and is a two-time SWAC Coach of the Year ( 2023, 2024) and Ben Jobe Award winner ( 2018, 2024). With a 120-109, Jackson is the second-most winningest coach in program history, trailing just the 123 wins of legendary coach Fredrick C. Hobdy.
