From Florida A&M Sports Information:
The Florida A&M University (FAMU) Rattler Boosters held a virtual spring fundraiser on Saturday, May 22 to help the athletic department.
The two-hour event, which was the second held virtually by the Rattler Boosters, was streamed live on Facebook and YouTube and provided updates on the athletic programs, along with the “Marching 100.”
FAMU Rattler Booster Club President Selvin Cobb said the event reflects the excitement of the Rattler community as the organization and its members look toward the coming fall season.
“We’ve gotten a great response from it, not only from the state of Florida but also from outside the state,” said Cobb about the event. “As Rattler fans, sometimes we just can’t get enough. We had a bit of a combination of FAMU from athletics to student life.”
During the two-hour fundraiser, the Rattler Boosters raised more than $5,000 and contributions continue to pour in, Cobb said.
“With things opening up, we knew people wouldn’t be sitting at home watching the entire event,” said Cobb. “That’s the great thing about technology and people can watch the video anytime. We were very pleased with how everything turned out.”
The Rattler Boosters played a significant role in the renovation of the Galimore-Powell Fieldhouse, contributing $159,000 for the new roof as part of Phase I of the “All In” Campaign.
During Phase I, the football operations center and fieldhouse were renovated. The upgrade included an expanded locker room with new graphics, lockers and finishes to prove more adequate space, expanded weight, training and equipment rooms. In addition, the renovation also included the football foyer and coaches’ office along with upgraded lighting and security.
The Rattler Boosters is one of the major ways to give to athletics and offers FAMU fans with the opportunity to be involved by making an impact. Contributions help fund student-athletes, scholarships, facilities and annual fund.
