Tennessee State’s Elaina Housworth named OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week

NASHVILLE – Tennessee State track and field’s Elaina Housworth was named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week after her performances in the long jump and triple jump at the Edmonds-Wilt Invite and the Ed Temple Classic.
 
In her first meet of the season at the Edmonds-Wilt Invite, the Covington Ga., native recorded a first place finish out of eight in the triple jump after finishing with a leap of 12.34. She would also finish in fifth place out of 10 in the long jump with a 5.46.
 
Housworth earned her second first place finish of the season this past Saturday in the triple jump at the Ed Temple Classic. She finished first out of five with a leap of 12.13m. She was able to finish in second place in the long jump with a mark of 5.56 meters.
 
The Tigers will be back in action on Martin Luther King Day as they are set to head to Louisville, Ky., to compete in the Louisville Urban KSU HBCU Indoor Classic, hosted by Kentucky State.
