In a thrilling first-round matchup at Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi, Fisk University’s men’s basketball team pulled off an impressive upset of #3 Dillard University. Fisk won the game by a score of 75-70, despite two losses to Dillard in the regular season.

The victory was led by head coach Kenny Anderson, who was able to guide his team to the win. Three players, Tyon Thompson(SO/Cincinnati, OH), Devyn Payne (SR/Memphis, TN), and Ralph Davenport (JR/Bastrop, LA), all scored twelve points each. Michael Ashley(JR/Atlanta, GA) led the team with fifteen points.

The Fisk men’s basketball team will advance to the second round of the GCAC Conference Tournament and face #2 Philander Smith College on February 25th at 2:00 pm. This is a remarkable achievement for Fisk, who hadn’t beaten Dillard all season prior to this victory. They will look to carry this momentum into the next round of the tournament, hoping to make a deep run in the tournament.
