The dark cloud of uncertainty surrounding the Minnesota Timberwolves over the Jimmy Butler saga can finally be lifted. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, and later confirmed by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe, the Philadelphia 76ers will acquire Butler in exchange for Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless. Wojnarowski and Lowe added the Timberwolves would also receive a 2022 second-round pick and send center Justin Patton to Philadelphia.
According to Wojnarowski, “After winless 5-game road trip that ended with loss Sacramento on Friday night, Tom Thibodeau had come to realization that the Wolves couldn’t win with Butler in this dysfunctional environment, sources said. He told associates that Minny wouldn’t play another game with Butler.”
