Kendrick Perkins calls out LeBron for chasing attention

With the Los Angeles Lakers unceremoniously bounced from the playoffs via a sweep at the Oklahoma City Thunder, the mainstream sporting discourse has, refreshingly, been a lot less LeBron-centric.

With the conference finals in both East and West tipping off with exciting games and historic performances,  such as Victor Wembanyama’s 41 and 24, the attention has, rightfully so been on these series and players in each matchup that are getting it done.

The propaganda arm of Klutch sports could not idly stand by while multiple news cycles go by which LeBron James was not the lead in.  Stories trickled down the wire of potentially acceptable parameters of a future contract for James. Then on his propagandacast Game the Mind, err Mind the Game he stayed in brand by offering up another weak excuse for the latest playoff defeat. Then on the same episode he said that if he comes back for a 24th season, winning must be the main focus for whatever team he plays for, which flies in the face of previous reports of him not willing take a discount , as the massive salary he seeks will severaly hinder team’s ability to put together a contending roster.

ESPN personality and former NBA player Kendrick Perkins called LeBron out for “fishing for attention.”

Speaking on a recent episode of First Take, Perkins had this to say:

“He already has a plan in place, he know what hes doing, he know where he want to go, if he wants to be on the Lakers, he already know that.”

LeBron finding a way to interject himself into the news cycle is nothing new. If a prominent athlete is getting some shine, he will attempt to attach himself to their achievement in order to siphon some of the attention toward himself. In more recent years , one of his methods of choice is to he stoke the uncertainty surrounding the future of his career to synthetically generate attention.
