The Philadelphia 76ers are adding another experienced veteran to bolster their championship aspirations.
According to ESPN, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has agreed to a contract buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies and plans to sign a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the 76ers once he clears waivers.
The move reunites Caldwell-Pope with LeBron James, with whom he won the 2020 NBA championship as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. The veteran guard also captured a second NBA title with the Denver Nuggets in 2023, bringing championship experience to a Philadelphia roster that continues to load up around its veteran core.
Known as one of the league’s premier 3-and-D wings, Caldwell-Pope provides the Sixers with dependable perimeter shooting, disciplined on-ball defense, and postseason experience. His ability to guard multiple positions while spacing the floor makes him a valuable addition to Philadelphia’s rotation.
The signing is the latest in what has been an aggressive offseason for the 76ers, who continue to reshape their roster in pursuit of an NBA title.
