Kevin Porter Jr. Exercises Player Option, Remains Part of Bucks’ New Era

The Milwaukee Bucks have secured another piece of their backcourt for the 2026-27 season.

According to multiple reports, Kevin Porter Jr. has exercised his $5.39 million player option, ensuring he will remain with the Bucks for another year. The move keeps the 25-year-old guard in Milwaukee as the franchise continues reshaping its roster following the departure of Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Porter joined the Bucks looking to revive his career and has emerged as a valuable contributor, providing scoring punch, playmaking ability, and versatility in the backcourt, as he put up per game numbers of 17.4 points, 7.4 assists and 5.2 rebounds per contest. His decision to opt into the final year of his contract gives Milwaukee continuity while allowing Porter another opportunity to increase his value before potentially entering unrestricted free agency next summer.

With the Bucks entering a new chapter, Porter is expected to be one of the team’s key veterans and could see an expanded role as Milwaukee looks to remain competitive in the Eastern Conference.

While the Bucks still have work to do this offseason, keeping Porter in the fold provides stability at the guard position and preserves another experienced piece as the organization builds toward its next contender.
