Lincoln Men’s Track and Field athletes won three events and recorded eight top five finishes as they competed at the Gwynedd Mercy University Mid-Week Twilight Meet in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania Wednesday afternoon.
There was no team scoring in the meet, which saw 15 schools competing.
Xavier Fountain won the javelin throw with a toss of 51.38 meters(168′ 7″) while Solomon Potter won the shot put with a toss of 14.02 meters (46′). Potter also placed second in the discus with a throw of 42.22 meters (138′ 6″).
Kyuande Johnson recorded the Lions third win of the meet, besting the field in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.54 seconds, a personal-best mark.
Jaylen Sanders also had a personal-best mark in the 400 meter race, placing fourth with a time of 51.30 seconds. He was also sixth in the long jump with a leap of 6.16 meters (20′ 2½”).
In the 800 meter run, Derek Pouncey and Tyreke Thompson placed third and fourth respectively with times of 2:03.96 and 2:05.45. Cameron Beale was seventh with a time of 2:08. 43
Rashad Robinson placed fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.11 seconds while Joseph Lindsay rounded out the Lions top ten finishes with an eighth place effort in the discus throw (29.96 meters, 98’3″).
The men’s track team returns to action on April 19, 2019 when they compete at the Widener Invitational.
