From the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
Coppin State senior Joseph Manu was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, and Howard senior Jessica Wright was selected as Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today.Norfolk State sophomore Isaac Haywood was named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, while Norfolk State freshman Leslie Young earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Manu (Sr., Accra, Ghana) won both the 100- and 200-meter dash at the Towson Invitational. The 10.10 he ran in the 100-meter final is the fastest time in the MEAC so far this season, by .24 seconds, and it would be tied for the third-fastest time in the nation were it wind-legal. Manu also ran a 21.17 in the 200 meters, which is third-fastest in the conference.
Wright (Sr., Durham, N.C.) ranks seventh in the nation in the 400-meter hurdles after turning in a school-record 56.32 to finish fifth at the Florida Relays. She set the MEAC’s best time in the event so far this season and qualified for the 2022 USA Championships.
Haywood (So., Louisa, Va.) won the triple jump at the Colonial Relays, leaping a personal-best 15.40 meters (50 feet, 6.25 inches) to take the gold medal. That mark is the best in the MEAC so far this season, by almost a full meter, and it currently ranks 32nd in the nation.
Young (Fr., Portsmouth, Va.) placed in the top five in three different throwing events at the Colonial Relays. She won the javelin throw with a mark of 33.91 meters (111 feet, 3 inches), while coming in second in the shot put (12.56 meters [41 feet, 2.5 inches]) and fourth in the discus (40.62 meters [133 feet, 3 inches]). She ranks second in the MEAC in the javelin and shot put and fourth in the discus.

Halutie Hor (Coppin State) was third at the Towson Invitational after running a 57.67 at 400 meters.
Balvin Richards (Coppin State) tossed the discus 40.48 meters at the Towson Invitational.
Catherine Glenn (Delaware State) won the 100-meter hurdles at the Towson Invitational with a time of 14.05.
Elijah McLaren (Delaware State) was third in the triple jump at the Towson Invitational with a leap of 14.32 meters.
Albert Norman (Delaware State) ran a 10:06.44 to win the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Towson Invitational.
Sierra Romaine (Delaware State) was sixth in the long jump at the Towson Invitational after leaping 5.43 meters.
Ayoade Adebiyi (Howard) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Colonial Relays with a MEAC-best time of 9:50.28.
Ezra Monteiro (Howard) tossed the hammer a MEAC-best 49.97 meters at the Colonial Relays.
Naomi English (Maryland Eastern Shore) won her first collegiate event at the Towson Invitational, leaping 5.64 meters in the long jump.
Tia Jackson (Morgan State) came in fourth in the 100 meters at the Towson Invitational with an 11.97.
Johnelle Johnson (Morgan State) was second in the discus at the Towson Invitational with a mark of 43.57 meters.
Keon Rantin (Morgan State) won the 400 meters (48.53) and was third in the 100 meters (10.40) at the Towson Invitational.
Kai Cole (Norfolk State) ran a 21.01 to win the 200 meters at the Colonial Relays.
Malika Pride (Norfolk State) ran a 54.23 in the 400 meters at the Colonial Relays, winning the race to rank 48th in the nation.
