Michigan mall shut down over Air Jordan fervor

In Harper Woods, Michigan seekers of the latest round of Air Jordan retros caused such an uproar that the mall had to be shut down temporarily. Earlier in the morning, crowds had begun gathering in the hopes of picking up the White/Jordan Jordan XII retros and the “Wing It” Air Jordan II. The commotion began at Kids Foot Locker, where once the doors opened at 8 AM this morning, the crowd rushed the gate, breaking a lock, the ensuing pushing, shoving and screaming prompted police to shut the mall down.

According to Eastland Mall GM William McClure, this scene was repeated when they attempted to re open at 10 AM.

“Both times, it was shut down by police for public safely… all over a tennis shoe. It’s frustrating. It got unruly, the police shut it down.” – Mall GM William McClure

Nearby in the mall, a similar scene ensued at Champ’s Sport. They had to resort to keeping their gates closed all day and handing out raffle tickets to gain access to the store. Ultimately, the raucous ed to Kids Foot Locker choosing not to even sell the 12’s.
