ATLANTA, Ga. – Fall is approaching, which means that basketball fans are in luck. The Morehouse College basketball team has announced its 2019-20 schedule. This year, there will be 15 home games and 12 away. The schedule is highlighted by a trip to Winston-Salem, North Carolina as the Maroon Tigers compete in the SIAC-CIAA challenge on November 15-16 against Shaw University and Winston-Salem State University.
The Maroon and White tip-off the season with an away exhibition contest against the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Nov. 1. MHC opens their home portion of the schedule on Nov. 12 as they host Fisk University at Forbes Arena.
Next on the schedule is the University of North Georgia on Nov. 20, and following the Thanksgiving break Morehouse will host Gulf South Conference foe, the University of West Georgia on the 26th, both at Forbes Arena.
The Maroon Tigers open Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play on Nov. 30 as they welcome the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University and the Badgers of Spring Hill College on Dec. 2.
The Maroon and White return to non-conference play as they host the Arthur J. McAfee Memorial Classics on Dec. 7-8. Morehouse takes on Saint Augustine’s University on the 7th and Georgia College on the 8th.
MHC continues SIAC play as they head to Jackson, TN to play against the Dragons of Lane College on Dec. 16.
Before breaking for the Christmas holiday the Maroon Tigers return home to defend the House against Central State University on Dec. 19 and Kentucky State University on Dec. 21.
MHC will start off the New Year by heading to Fairfield, AL to take on Miles College on Jan. 4 followed by a trip to Memphis, TN to take down LeMoyne-Owen College on Jan. 6.
On Jan 11, Morehouse will battle the Golden Rams of Albany State University in Forbes Arena. The very next week, the Maroon Tigers will head up the road to Columbia, South Carolina to take on Benedict College and then head to Augusta, GA to face Paine College on Jan 20.
Mark your calendars for the battle of the Atlanta University Center on Jan 25 and Feb 15. First the Maroon and White will clash against the Clark Atlanta University Panthers, on Jan 25 at the friendly confines Forbes Arena while the next encounter will be held on CAU’s campus. The teams split last year’s contest, each winning on their home court.
The next week Morehouse makes the short trek for an exhibition match-up at cross-town rival Georgia Tech on Jan. 28, followed by a home game against Savannah State University on Feb 1. After a short layoff MHC will meet SSU again on the 10th in Savannah, GA.
The Maroon Tigers begin a three game home stretch as they first host Fort Valley State University on Feb. 17 followed by Benedict College on Feb. 20, and Paine College on the 22nd. After the home stand, the Maroon and white will close out the season with away games against ASU on Feb. 25 and FVSU on the 27th.
Morehouse then prepares for the 2020 SIAC Basketball Tournament being held March 2-7 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
