Coming off a new career-high in digs, Gabriela Felix-Baeza of the North Carolina Central University volleyball team was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week announced by the conference office on Monday.
Felix-Baeza (Guadalajara, Mexico) totaled 60 digs through three matches at the Queen City Invitational on Sept. 20-21. The defensive specialist averaged 4.62 digs per set as she amassed 29 against UNC Charlotte in the final match setting a new career high.
The junior also had 12 service aces for a serve percentage of .922. Felix-Baeza also collected Queen City Invitational All-Tournament Team honors for her performance.
The Eagles play their first pair of MEAC matches this weekend hosting Norfolk State University on Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. and Howard University on Sept. 29 at 1 p.m.
