Norfolk State’s A.J. Richardson named season’s final MEAC Rookie of the Week

Norfolk State linebacker A.J. Richardson has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
 
Richardson tied his career-best with 10 tackles on Saturday against South Carolina State, including four solo tackles. He also recorded a tackle for loss.
 
The recognition marked the Norfolk State freshman’s second MEAC Weekly Award this season, and first Rookie of the Week honor. He was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 16.
 
Richardson led the Spartans with 69.0 total tackles this year, making 41 solo tackles and 11 tackles for loss. He recovered a team-best three fumbles and made two sacks.
