Panathinaikos OPAP was hoping to keep Mario Hezonja going into the 2021-22 season but the sides didn’t yet reach a deal as the Croatian forward turned down a two-million offer for two years, according to sdna. Eurohoops sources confirm.
Hezonja was willing to continue with the club but the offer on the table included that the player’s side was to pay the buyout (400,000) to Barcelona which holds his rights in Europe and that was the reason for turning down PAO.
Despite Hezonja moving on, Panathinaikos has already made significant progress when it comes to the roster for the next season as the team re-signed Nemanja Nedovic and Ioannis Papapetrou while adding Kendrick Perry, Daryl Macon, Okaro White, Jehyve Floyd, Alpha Diallo, and Nikos Chougkaz.
