According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to a deal with David Griffin to run their basketball operations.
Although Griffin’s job will be to run the Pelicans’ basketball operations, his official title has not be set in stone but Wojnarowski adds that it will likely be Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations.
Although he spent 17 seasons with the Phoenix Suns, his last three was as their VP of Basketball Operations, he is most known for his time as General Manager of The Cleveland Cavaliers from 2014-17, where he was instrumental in building the team that made four straight NBA Finals, winning a title in 2016.
As he assumes his new role, among his first tasks will be finding a suitable trade package for all-world forward Anthony Davis. The clock has been ticking since he announced shortly before the trade deadline that he would not be re-signing with the club when his current deal runs out.
