Chase Bingmon, Rodny Ojo Lead Prairie View’s Offense

Bingmon provided the Panthers with their most explosive rushing performance, opening the scoring for Prairie View with a two-yard touchdown run at the 12:25 mark of the second quarter.

The score capped an eight-play, 65-yard drive and gave the Panthers a 7-6 advantage after East Texas A&M opened the game with two field goals from Ozlo Rigby.

Bingmon delivered his biggest play with 8:47 remaining in the fourth quarter. After the Lions cut the deficit to five points, the Prairie View running back broke free for a 52-yard touchdown run, extending the Panthers’ lead to 30-19. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful.

Rodny Ojo also played a significant role in the victory, catching four passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns. His nine-yard touchdown reception from Tevin Carter with 39 seconds remaining in the first half gave Prairie View a 14-6 halftime advantage.

Ojo added a six-yard touchdown catch early in the fourth quarter, finishing a 10-play, 68-yard drive that pushed the Panthers’ lead to 24-6.

East Texas A&M Rallies in the Fourth Quarter

East Texas A&M struggled to find the end zone during the first three quarters, settling for Rigby’s 27-yard and 26-yard field goals in the opening period.

The Lions trailed 17-6 entering the fourth quarter after Prairie View kicker Ethan Eddins connected on a 45-yard field goal in the third.

Prairie View appeared to take firm control when Ojo’s second touchdown reception made it an 18-point game at 24-6 with 14:56 remaining.

However, East Texas A&M responded with consecutive touchdown passes from quarterback Reese Mooney.

Mooney connected with Micah Simpson for an 11-yard touchdown with 9:57 left, capping a 12-play, 69-yard drive. Just 18 seconds later, Andrez Lewis caught a 24-yard touchdown pass to bring the Lions within five points at 24-19.

The comeback was short-lived. Bingmon’s 52-yard touchdown run on Prairie View’s ensuing possession restored an 11-point cushion and gave the Panthers the breathing room they needed to finish the game.

Mooney completed 31 of 52 passes for 333 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. Simpson led the Lions with 10 receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown, while Lewis finished with three catches for 41 yards and a score. Tanner Harrison contributed six receptions for 68 yards.

Prairie View’s Defense Limits the Lions’ Ground Game

Despite allowing 333 passing yards, Prairie View’s defense helped secure the victory by limiting East Texas A&M to 45 net rushing yards on 26 attempts.

The Lions averaged just 1.7 yards per carry and did not record a rushing touchdown. Mooney was sacked three times for a combined loss of 29 yards, contributing to the team’s limited ground production.

Malachi Williams, Rondell Carter and Tyler Morehead each recorded six total tackles to lead the Panthers defensively.
