Defeating Savannah St 24-6 Thursday night pushed the Tigers of Benedict College to a 3-0 start, tt best such beginning to a season since reinstating their football program way back in 1995. Savannah State , with the defeat, falls to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the SIAC.

Trailing for the majority of the game, Fort Valley displayed grit and perseverance in a 29-27 comeback win over the Yellow Jackets of Allen. Down 27-17 late in the third quarter , the Wildcats scored the game’s final 12 points to secure the come-from-behind victory.

Tuskegee got the 700th win in their storied program’s history in unexpected and impressive fashion, upetting West Alabama 13-10. Tough defense and timely offense paved the way to victory for the olden Tigers, with Arnes Huskic’s 29-yard field goal with 5:38 to go in the game proved to be the deeciding score.

Kentucky State managed to put up a fight in the first half against Dayton, trailing just 10-3 at halftime. The same could not be said for the second half as the Flyers outscored the Throughbreds 36-0, 22 in the third quarter and 14 more in the fourth, en route to a 46-3 beatdown.

The Lane offense made it a tough day at the office for the Clark Atlanta defense, as the Dragons lit up the Panthers defense for 474 yards and 38 points in a 38-6 blowout. Lane had more passing yards, 319, than Clark had in total offense, 292.

Valdosta State suffered a stunning 45-40 loss to the CIAA’s Virginia Union last Saturday, and the took out those frustrations on Miles, laying a 55-7 donkey-kicking on the Golden Bears. Miles is still winless on the season at 0-3 and will look to get in the win column this season next week against Central State.

The Albany State Golden Rams bounced back from their loss against FAMU last week with a 42-20 victory over, Shorter University. The 42 points the Rams scored was more than they put up in their first two games combined. ASU quarterback looked much shaper than he did last week, throwing for 246 yards and a touchdown, while running for 44 yards and another score.

Central State lost a close game to Bluefield State 27-23. However with multiple turnovers and coming away with no points in any of their four trips to the red zone, the Marauders helped the Blues secure victory.
