North Carolina Central junior quarterback Davius Richard was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference announced today. South Carolina State linebacker BJ Davis was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Norfolk State’s Jordin Lennon was named Rookie of the Week. North Carolina Central’s Robert Mitchell was named Offensive Lineman of the Week and the Eagles’ Adrian Olivo was named Specialist of the Week.
Davius Richard, North Carolina Central (QB, 6-3, 215, Jr., Belle Glade, Fla.)
Richard accounted for four of the Eagles’ eight touchdowns in a win over Virginia University of Lynchburg, passing for three and rushing for one score as North Carolina Central posted its highest single-game point total since 2016. Richard was 12-for-17 through the air for 148 yards (12.3 per completion) while rushing six times for 41 yards (6.8 per carry).
BJ Davis , South Carolina State, (LB, 6-2, 190, r-So., Blair, S.C.)
Davis racked up a game- and career-high 17 tackles – including 12 solo stops – against North Carolina A&T State. He also broke up a pass against the Bulldogs’ former MEAC rivals.
Jordin Lennon, Norfolk State, (RB, 5-10, 211, Fr., Yorktown, Va.)
Lennon carried the ball 10 times for 80 yards (8.0 per carry), both career highs, against Saint Francis. He also scored his first collegiate touchdown with a 26-yard run in the second quarter.
Robert Mitchell , North Carolina Central, (OL, 6-4, 305, r-Sr., Millsboro, Del.)
Mitchell graded out at 97% against Virginia University of Lynchburg, anchoring an offensive line that allowed the Eagles to amass 465 yards of total offense (7.5 yards per play), 272 rushing yards and 59 points. In 52 offensive snaps, he recorded seven pancake blocks and did not give up a sack.
Adrian Olivo , North Carolina Central , (PK, 5-10, 185, Jr., Plant City, Fla.)
NC Central’s Olivo connected on all eight of his extra-point attempts and made a 34-yard field goal in the Eagles’ win over Virginia University of Lynchburg. For the season, Olivo is 2-for-2 on field goals and 23-for-24 on PATs.
Other Top Performers
Tyler Long (Norfolk State) had 12 tackles (six solo) and 1.5 sacks against Saint Francis.
Max U’Ren (North Carolina Central) racked up seven tackles and forced a fumble against Virginia University of Lynchburg.
Colby Warrior (North Carolina Central) had 2.0 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks and an interception against Virginia University of Lynchburg.
Dyson Roberts (South Carolina State) averaged 50.8 yards over four punts against North Carolina A&T State, including a game-long 58-yarder.
