According to James Larson of Pro Football Newsroom, D.C. Defenders head coach Shannon Harris is now listed as the Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach at Tennessee State University.
A trip to the football coaches page on the Tennessee State athletics website does reveal that Harris is indeed listed as the Tigers’ Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. However, Larson adds that there has been nothing official has been indicated from either party.
Joining Coach Reggie Barlow at Tennessee State would be a return to familiar territory. Harris played quarterback for the Tigers from 2001-02, where as a senior, he set the school record for total offense, with 3137 yards, a mark that still stands.
He also spent time on the TSU coaching staff, starting as a graduate assistant in 2003 and serving as quarterback coach (2004), tight ends coach (2005), wide receivers coach (2006-08), and quarterbacks coach (2008). Coach Harris returned to TSU in 2018 as an offensive analyst and then offensive coordinator from 2019-2020.
Update: Tennessee State head coach Reggie Barlow confirmed during OVC-Big South Football Media Day that Coach Harris would be joining his staff as offensive coordinator.
