Darrius Flournoy has become the latest unnecessary casualty of sneaker related violence. The 22-year old was shot by an acquaintance, 20-year-old Ja’Corrie Rogers, over a dispute surrounding shoes the two swapped. Police alleged that at approximately 6:45 p.m., Rogers pulled out a handgun and shot Flournoy multiple times. Neighbors said that at least five shots were heard.
First responders attempted to insert a breathing tube and stop the bleeding from the multiple gunshot wounds Flournoy suffered. He was loaded onto an ambulance and transported to a local hospital where he died soon thereafter.
According to Sgt. Ben Beall of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Rogers turned himself in Tuesday and was charged with murder and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
