Tennessee State built a big lead early and then was able to stave off a game Western Illinois team to preserve a 45-20 win.  After winning the coin toss and choosing to receive  Tennessee State got right to work, taking the opening kickoff and marching 65 yards in 6 plays that ended when CJ Evans scampered in from 15 yards to put the Tigers up 7-0. Tennessee State pulls away late to spank Eastern Illinois, 41-17

In what turned out to be a game of runs, Tennessee State was able to pull away with a second-half flurry to dispatch Eastern Illinois 41-17.  Draylen Ellis turned in another solid outing, completing 20 of 32 passes for 224 yards 4 touchdowns, and no interception. It is homecoming in the 615 and the crown jewel of the week’s festivities takes place on the gridiron where Tennessee State hosts Eastern Illinois. Last season the Panthers controlled the matchup and defeated the Tigers 30-17.  Tennessee State Tennessee State ( 4-2, 2-1) comes into the matchup on a two-game winning streak. The Big South-OVC released the 2024 Defensive Players to Watch List and six Tennessee State players were named to the list. Eriq George | Defensive Lineman| Spohomore George put together a freshman campaign in which he recorded 25 total tackles ( 13 solos, 12 assisted) 6.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
