Tennessee State falls short to Gardner-Webb 30-14

Turnovers and a lackluster offensive performance proved to be Tennessee State’s undoing as TSU fell at home to Gardner-Webb 30-14. Tennessee State falls to Lindenwood 35-13

Tennessee State got off to a strong start, scoring on its first drive and taking a 10-7 lead in the latter portion of the first quarter. Tennessee State’s DeVaughn Slaughter named OVC-Big South Freshman of the Week

Tennessee State wide receiver DeVaughn Slaughter was named Ohio Valley BIG South freshman of the week for his own field exploits this past week. In the Tigers 24-21 season opening win over North Carolina A&T Slaughter caught an 82-yard touchdown pass that tied the game at 7 in the first quarter. He fined the game with 4 receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown.  He also was impactful in the return game, averaging 17.5 yards per return on a pair of kickoffs. Tennessee State Places Six on Conference Watch Lists Ahead of 2025 Season

The OVC-Big South Football Association released its preseason watch lists for offense and defense. Amongst the student athletes to make the cut were six Tigers. Tight end Jason Hoath, who has been key in blocking and has shown ability in the passing game was named to the Association’s offensive players to watch list.  Joining him is offensive lineman Anthony Smith. For the fifth time this season, Tennessee State linebacker Sanders Ellis was named the Big South-OVC Freshman of the Week.  In TSU’s 28-21 win over no.11/12 Southeast Missouri that secured a portion of the conference crown for Tennessee State, Ellis recorded a team-high tackles ( 7 solo) and a pass breakup.
