Tennessee State football places 6 on Big South-OVC Defensive Players to Watch List

The Big South-OVC released the 2024 Defensive Players to Watch List and six Tennessee State players were named to the list. Eriq George | Defensive Lineman| Spohomore George put together a freshman campaign in which he recorded 25 total tackles ( 13 solos, 12 assisted) 6.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. The Nashville native’s play garnered him Freshman All-America and he was also named Big South-OVC Freshman of the Year. Big South-OVC Football Association 2024 Conference Schedule

The second-year of the joint Association features nine league teams each playing an eight-game conference schedule.  The league slate starts Saturday, Sept. 7, and Association games will primarily take place between Weeks 5 and 13, with one game apiece during Weeks 2 and 4.  Seven weeks will feature four Association matchups. Tennessee State announced the Big South-OVC , also known as the stretch of games thier fans do not care about, portion of their schedule for the 2024 season. This is the second season of the Big South-OVC football alliance, in which nine teams will take part in an eight-game conference schedule. Tennessee State’s Terrell Allen named Big South-OVC Defensive Player of the Week

Tennessee State defensive lineman Terrell Allen was named Big South-OVC Defensive Player of the Week for his gridiron exploits this past weekend. In the Tigers’ Homecoming win against the Spartans of Norfolk State, Allen recorded seven tackles ( 6 solo), 4 tackles for loss, as well as a pass breakup. Allen also recorded a pair of sacks, which was his first multi-sack game of the season. Tennessee State’s Monroe Beard named Big South-OVC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Tennessee State linebacker Monroe Beard was named Big South-OVC Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Beard, a junior out of Chattaanooga, Tennessee, set the TSU single-gmae record for tackles, with 19 in the Tigers, 20-10 loss at UT Martin on Saturday. On the most recent Big South-OVC Football media call, Tennessee State head coach Eddie Eddie George was very complimentary of Beard, referring to him as “selfless”, “fiery” and some someone “who represents everything it is to be a Tennessee State Tiger.” Beard leads the conference in tackles with 49 total…
