by Panthers Sports Information Department : Richmond, VA- Virginia Union University’s football team has moved up to being ranked second in the nation in Dr. Henry Cavil’s HBCU Mid-Major Division Football Poll, released on Wednesday, October 10. Langston University is ranked #1 with a 5-1 record while VUU is second with an identical 5-1 record. 2018 CIAA Football Championship makes its return to Salem Football Stadium

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced it will host its 2018 Football Championship game Saturday, November 10 at Salem Stadium located in Salem-Roanoke, VA. The game pits the Conference’s Northernand Southern Division Champions against each other and  is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. EST kickoff. As Hurricane Florence tracks toward the East Coast, it has progressed from a Category 1 storm( 90 mph winds) to a Category 4 ( 130 mph winds )in a span of just thirteen hours. Benedict jumped on Johnson C. Smith early and never let the Golden Bulls into the game, scoring three quick touchdowns en route to a 42-14 victory this Saturday. After completing a 45-yard pass from quarterback Dominique Harris to Delon Freeman on their first offensive play, it would only take them three more plays to fins the end zone for the first time- a 6-yard touchdown pass to  Jemine Yesin.
