Tennessee State falls to Eastern Illinois, 69-49

The no.1 defensive team in the Ohio Valley Conference, Eastern Illinois, held Tennessee State to sub 40% in three of four quarters as the Panthers handily defeated Tennessee State 69-49 Thursday night.  The Panthers controlled the first quarter, trailing in the period. Tennessee State defeats Lindenwood 84-76

The Tennessee State men’s basketball team led for most of the game and was able to get a needed OVC win 84-76.  TSU jumped out to an early 8-0 lead on Carlous Williams’ three-point shot at the 17:56 mark. After a close and competitive first half, Lindenwood was able to seize control of the game and set a pace that proved to be too great for the Tennessee State Lady Tigers to keep up with, as they were bested by the Lions 81-70.  Lindenwood scored the first 6b points of the game and would take a 6-2 lead before Tennessee State tied the game at 8 apiece when Krystal Haddock connected from downtown at the 5:43 mark. Tennessee State takes care of Western Illinois, 87-69

Tennessee State turned in a strong performance on the glass, turned 19 WIU turnovers into 33 points, and scored 39 points off the bench in an 87-69 defeat of Western Illinois Thursday night.  Although the Tennessee State didn’t have their shooting eye in the first half, shooting just 38.9 in the game’s opening half, the Tigers hit the glass and turned defense into offense. TSU pounded the glass, grabbing 10 offensive rebounds, which they turned into 13 points, and forced 11 turnovers, scoring 18 points off those Western Illinois miscues and taking a 38-33 halftime lead. …
