The no.1 defensive team in the Ohio Valley Conference, Eastern Illinois, held Tennessee State to sub 40% in three of four quarters as the Panthers handily defeated Tennessee State 69-49 Thursday night.  The Panthers controlled the first quarter, trailing in the period. The Tennessee State men’s basketball team led for most of the game and was able to get a needed OVC win 84-76.  TSU jumped out to an early 8-0 lead on Carlous Williams’ three-point shot at the 17:56 mark. Tennessee State turned in a strong performance on the glass, turned 19 WIU turnovers into 33 points, and scored 39 points off the bench in an 87-69 defeat of Western Illinois Thursday night.  Although the Tennessee State didn’t have their shooting eye in the first half, shooting just 38.9 in the game’s opening half, the Tigers hit the glass and turned defense into offense.
