From the Southwestern Athletic Conference: The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama A&M’s Dariauna Lewis and Jackson State’s Ameshya Williams-Holliday for SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of conference play. Player of the Week– Dariauna Lewis, Alabama A&M Lewis had back-to-back dominating double-double performances this past week. Against Texas Southern she scored 26 points while collecting 18 rebounds. Jackson State v Southeastern Baptist men’s hoops game cancelled

COVID-19 has claimed year another HBCU’s basketball game, the latest being Jackson State’s home opener against Southeastern Baptist, which was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. This is the second consecutive contest that have been cancelled for the Tigers, their December 21 tilt against Stephen F. Austin cancelled for the same reason. Despite the setback, the JSU men’s hoops( 2-9) team is expectant to resume action when they tip-off Southwestern Athletic Conference play Monday, January 3 against the Tigers of Bethune-Cookman.
