Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson will miss the team’s game tonight against the Philadelphia 76ers due to illness. At this point, there is no word on if Thompson could miss additional games. This season Klay is averaging 21.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 34.2 minutes per contest.

Klay Thompson sets single game three point record, scorches Bulls for 52

At least from the perspective of long-range shooting, Klay Thompson has not been himself to start the 2018-19 campaign. Coming into The Warriors’ game against the Chicago Bulls he had been averaging just 15.1 points per contest and shooting just 40% from the floor. He had only made 5 of his 36 three-point attempts on the season. The Bulls were very accommodating in helping Thompson break out of his shooting funk in a major way. He hit an NBA record 14 three-pointers en route to a 52 point night. Thirty-six…

The Houston Rockets are returning home, much to their chagrin the Golden State Warriors are following them. Golden State’s 115-86 defeat of the Rockets, who were without Chris Paul, in game 6 sets up the Western Conference Finals for a game 7, the ultimate win-or-go home scenario. The real Klay Thompson finally showed up and dropped 35 points, including nine three-pointers on 13-of-23 shooting. Stephen Curry scored 29 points on 12-of-23 shooting, while Kevin Durant scored 23, but only shot 6-of-17 from the floor. James Harden scored 32, but missed…

Game 7 :Cavs Win!

There will be so much yakking from the myriad of sports outlets about the 50+ year drought, talk of The Drive, The Fumble, The Shot and how the Cleveland sports curse has finally been broken. This will not be one of those pieces. The Cleveland Cavaliers did complete a fairly improbable comeback from a 3-1 deficit in winning the NBA title by defeating the Golden State Warriors in game 7, 93-89. Finally, we had a hotly contested game in this series that has been defined by the teams taking turns…

Game 6: We’re Going Back to Cali

After the beat downs of the Cavaliers served up by Golden State in the first two games of the finals, Cleveland looked like they had no business on the court with Warriors. Game 2 was particularly troubling because I’d never, in all my years of watching the NBA Finals, see a time check out in a finals game. After a comeback in game 4, to give them a commanding 3-1 lead heading back to the friendly confines of Oracle Arena, game 5 was thought to be a prelude to a…

Game 5: Not So Fast Warriors!

The story surrounding game 5 was the suspension of Draymond Green and how his absence would impact both ballclubs. The other questions were would this, along with being at home in a potential series clinching game, put an extra chip on the Warriors’ shoulder and would the Cavaliers come out aggressively as they had in game and would they avoid the costly mistakes that cost them the previous contest? Through the first half, this was by far the most competitive and entertaining game of series. It was more in line…

2016 NBA Finals Game 4

Game 4 was a tale of two halves: in the first half, Cleveland’s defense and rebounding powered them to a five point halftime lead. However, even with that there were some cause for concern if you were Cavs fan, most prominently Thompson and Curry were starting to find their respective rhythms and there was some offensive stagnation derived from iso-ball and a LeBron James who seemed hellbent on passing on as many scoring opportunities as possible.  In the in the second half of the Cavaliers defense was mistake prone constantly…

NBA Finals Game 1: Our Take

Game 1 of the highly anticipated matchup between the Warriors and the Cavaliers is in the books. The Warriors smacked the Cavaliers 104-89.  While the vaunted Golden State backcourt was relatively quiet, going a combined 8-27 for 20 points, 11 from Curry and 9 from Thompson, was their bench that came up big scoring 45 points. Sean Livingston accounted for 20 of them on what seemed to a never ending hail of midrange jumpers.  The Cavaliers’ big three of James, Irving and Love went 23-60 for 66 points. J.R. Smith…
