Joel Embiid will miss one week with knee injury

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will not be on the court when the team returns to post All-Star action Thursday against the Miami Heat. According to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, the team announced that Embiid experienced soreness in his left knee that led to him getting an MRI, which fortunately revealed no structural damage. Embiid will be re-evaluated in a week and he will undergo physical therapy and load management ( whatever that means). Sixers will not sign Brewer for season’s remainder

It appears that the Philadelphia Sixers will not be retaining the services of veteran wing Corey Brewer for the rest of the season. The team had signed Brewer to a 10-day contract on January 15 and then to a second deal on January 25. Brewer had seemed to play well, adding a veteran toughness and another still capable defender to the team. Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard Jimmy Butler will miss the team’s game against the Houston Rockets tonight, according to Kyle Neubeck. Neubreck also added that Butler informed the team he was experiencing discomfort in his wrist and that the team is calling it a “mild wrist sprain.” Since being traded to the Sixers earlier this season, Butler has averaged 19.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 32.1 minutes per contest.
