Sixers ship Al Horford to OKC for Danny Green and picks

From Tyler Conway of B/R: A year after inking him to a four-year, $109 million contract, the Philadelphia 76ers are moving on from Al Horford. Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sixers traded the 34-year-old, along with a “lightly-protected” 2025 first-round draft pick and the No. 34 overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft, to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Danny Green and Terrence Ferguson.  Wojnarowski added that Oklahoma City will also receive the rights to Vasilije Micic, who currently plays in Turkey and was drafted No. 54 overall by Philadelphia in 2014.   This…

Doc Rivers agrees to become 76ers head coach

Well that didn’t take long. Barely 72 hours after being broken off by the Los Angeles Clippers, Doc Rivers has reached an agreement to become head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the move was preceded by a “rapid courtship and negotiation.” The news likely comes to the chagrin of Mike D’Antoni, who had been previously rumoured to all but have the Sixers gig.

Joel Embiid out versus Pacers

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will not be in the lineup for the team’s game against the Indiana Pacers due to left knee soreness, as reported by Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. This will be the seventh game that Embiid has missed this season. Expect a more productive Al Horford tonight; Pompey adds that in the games where Embiid has been absent, Horford has averaged 18.6 ppg, a full six points higher than his season average.

Ben Simmons agrees to max contract with the Sixers

The Miami Heat have acquired Jimmy Butler via a sign-and-trade with the Philadelphia 76ers , per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
