Tennessee State takes care of Western Illinois, 87-69

Tennessee State turned in a strong performance on the glass, turned 19 WIU turnovers into 33 points, and scored 39 points off the bench in an 87-69 defeat of Western Illinois Thursday night.  Although the Tennessee State didn’t have their shooting eye in the first half, shooting just 38.9 in the game’s opening half, the Tigers hit the glass and turned defense into offense. Lady Tigers rally in second half to claim 70-66 win over Western Illinois

Tennessee State Men come up short in overtime against SEMO, 89-87

The TSU men came out on the short end of a hard-fought matchup with/Southeast Missouri, 89-87 in overtime. The first half was a closely contested affair that saw 11 vcties and 7 lead changes and by the time expired on the first 20 minutes of play it was SEMO’s turn to sit atop the see-saw as they led 32-31.  The Tigers and Redhawks swapped the lead in the early stages of the second half. Tennessee State Women’s Hoops does not trail in 70-62 win over SEMO

The Tennessee State women’s basketball team turned in one of their strongest performances of the season, led wire-to-wire in a 70-62 win over Southeast Missouri.  As has been atypical of them for most of the season, the Lady Tigers got off to a good start, shooting 50% in the first quarter. Nkrumah’s buzzer beater lifts Tennessee State to fourth straight win

Once again, it took late-game heroics, but Tennessee State was able to pull out a 72-70 win over Little Rock. Aaron Nkrumah’s three-pointer with 0.6 was the decisive basket that propelled the Tigers to victory.  Little Rock scored first on Isaiah Lewis’ fastbreak layup, giving the Trojans an early 2-0 lead. After being down at the half, the Tennessee State basketball team picked it up in the second half, outscoring Tennessee Tech 49-30 on the second half to claim victory, 89-77.  Tennessee State jumped out to an early 13-4 lead and continued to show the way for the lion’s share of the half. Knute Wood canned a three-pointer with 15 ticks left in overtime to propel Tennessee State to an 81-80 win over UT Martin Tuesday night. After Ronald Jessamy’s layup tied the game at 10, TSU was to show the way before Vladimir Salaridze’s layup knotted the game back at 16.
