Coming off a stunning loss to Lane College in the John Merritt Classic, Tennessee State hobbles into its homecoming matchup with Bethune-Cookman. TSU starting quarterback Draylen Ellis missed the Merritt Classic with an ankle injury that happened in the second quarter of their 49-6 loss at Middle Tennessee State on Sept. 17. Leading the Tigers will be Gleson Sprewell, Davoan Hawkins, JJ Holloman, and Kaleb Mosley. The captains were selected by the Tiger players. Sprewell is a grad transfer from the University of Houston. Tennessee state senior offensive lineman Robert Lacey was named to Reese’s Senior Bowl preseason watch list. The Blount High School (AL) played at left guard for all his appearances last season for the Tigers and helped the run game average 114.7 yards per game and average 75% in the red-zone.
