The league made the announcement Tuesday morning. Patterson, a 6-1 graduate transfer from Atlanta, Ga., scored a team-best 20 points along with five rebounds and five assists to lead Texas Southern to an 88-73 victory over Texas A&M on Dec. 29. For the second consecutive year the Texas Southern Tigershave seized the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Texas Southern’s on fire shooting in the second half to claim victory over Alabama State 90-76 and advance to the semifinals of the SWAC Men’s Basketball Tournamemt. The Tigers shot 65% from the floor in the deciding half and that proved to be too much for the Hornets.
