Tennessee State hoops opens up OVC play today against UT Martin

The Tennessee State men’s basketball team will put its 5-0 home record on the line as they will open Ohio Valley Conference play tomorrow evening against UT Martin. TSU finished the non-conference slate 7-6 which is tied for 2nd in the OVC.

SERIES INFORMATION: This will be the 68th all-time meeting between the Tigers and the Skyhawks with TSU leading the series 37-30. The two teams split last season with each team winning on the road.

INDIANA STATE NOTES & NUMBERS:

12-10: The number of points of points and rebounds that Kinyon Hodges finished with against Indianan State. The transfer guard logged his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 boars. Hodges’ 10 rebounds mark the second time he’s pulled down 10 boards this year.

10: The number of straight games that Jaylen Jones has finished with double-digit points in.

MR. 3X: True freshman Jaylen Jones earned his third OVC Freshman of the Week award after his performance last week at ISU. Jones logged his 10th straight double-digit scoring performance on the road at Indiana State last week, as he finished with a team-high 16 points against the Sycamores. He also finished with two boards, a steal, and an assist.

LUCK 13: Six different Tigers played in all 13 non-conference games, while E.J. Bellinger and Marcus Fitzgerald Jr., started in all 13. Hodges, Jones, Michael Shanks, and Justin Williamsjoin Bellinger and Fitzgerald Jr., as the other four to appear in all 13 contests.
