Tennessee State women’s tennis gets 4-3 victory over UT Southern

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State women’s team hosted UT Southern at Hadley Park on Saturday afternoon and picked up a 4-3 win over the Firehawks. The win brings TSU’s spring record to 2-16 (0-1 OVC).
 
The Tigers started off the match in dominating fashion, picking up big wins at lines one and three in doubles play. Warona Mdlulwa / Naomi Von Bose won 6-1 in the No. 1 position, while Daniela Koleva / Aroa Arrieta Castillo won 6-1 at line three.
 
 Franka Sindicic / Jovana Nikolic played a tight match in the No. 2 spot, despite dropping the match 4-6.
 
TSU carried its momentum into singles play, picking up two quick wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Mdlulwa picked up a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at line one, while Von Bose showed no signs of struggle at line two, winning 6-2, 6-1.
 
Aroa Arrieta Castillo was able to clinch the win for TSU as she won 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 4 slot.
 
The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they are set to head up the road to Lebanon to take on Cumberland. The match is slated to start at 2:30 p.m.
